WORKPROUD: Frequently Asked Questions

WorkProud FAQ: pricing, implementation, security, and results

Straight answers before you book the demo

HR asks about outcomes. IT asks about security. Finance asks where the money goes. Employees ask where the gift cards are. This page answers all four, written by the team that has launched 450+ recognition programs.

About WorkProud

WorkProud is a managed employee recognition and rewards program that pairs a mobile-first platform with a dedicated team of HR professionals and Certified Recognition Professionals. It turns employee appreciation into measurable outcomes: lower attrition, validated rewards spend, and culture data leaders can act on.

More than 20 million people across 450+ programs in 100+ countries use WorkProud. Client retention is 96%.

Yes. WorkProud is operated by WHAPPS LLC, which also operates as Online Rewards. The company is privately held and has served clients since 2002. WorkProud is the name of the employee recognition platform and program.

A managed recognition program from WorkProud includes a dedicated Client Services team that designs the program with you, builds the launch plan, trains your managers, and reviews results in regular business reviews. Most recognition vendors provide a login and leave adoption to your team.

That model is why WorkProud holds 96% client retention and 98% customer satisfaction.

WorkProud is built for organizations from 20 people to 100,000+ employees, with a sweet spot of 1,000 to 15,000 employees. Clients span healthcare, financial services, technology, nonprofit, transportation, hospitality, energy, and higher education.

Clients include Webster Bank, WalkMe (SAP), Gables Residential, Macy’s, Qualcomm, Nielsen, Yum! Brands, Charter Communications, Parkland Health, NRG, and RWJBarnabas Health. A solo HR manager can start free. A global enterprise gets a configured program, HRIS integration, and a dedicated team. Both run on the same platform, so you never migrate.

Slack and Teams are good for a quick thank-you, but a shout-out there leaves the feed within a day. It carries no points, no link to your company values, and no history you can pull before a performance review.

WorkProud tags every recognition post to a value, keeps it searchable, and reports it by team, location, and manager. Slack and Teams stay where your people talk. WorkProud becomes the record of what you appreciate and what it produces.

An HRIS recognition module is enough if you only need a certificate and a points deposit. It will not deliver peer-to-peer giving, a branded social feed, a global rewards catalog, multi-language translation, or content moderation.

WorkProud integrates with Workday, SAP, Oracle, ADP, UKG, and other HRIS platforms. Your HRIS stays the system of record, and WorkProud adds the culture layer on top.

Comparing WorkProud

WorkProud is the recognition platform that pairs purpose-built technology with a team accountable for your adoption, and prices rewards openly. Other platforms tend to do one piece well: a clean self-serve interface, a large catalog, or a broad HR suite.

Five differences matter most to buyers:

  • A managed service that co-owns outcomes, not a software hand-off
  • Catalog-agnostic economics: transparent pricing, plus company-supplied rewards such as PTO and payroll credits
  • Activity tied to retention data, engagement scores, and board-ready ROI
  • One unified platform in place of the four to six disconnected tools most enterprises run
  • 96% client retention

WorkProud differs from Bonusly, Nectar, Motivosity, and Kudos in service model and pricing. Those platforms are self-serve tools priced per user, where your team owns setup and adoption.

WorkProud Enterprise is priced per program and includes a dedicated team that designs, launches, and reviews the program with you. If you want a tool your team runs alone, a self-serve platform may fit. If you need adoption and outcomes owned jointly, WorkProud is the closer match.

WorkProud competes with O.C. Tanner, Workhuman, and Achievers for enterprise recognition programs, and differs on reward economics. WorkProud is catalog-agnostic: software, services, and rewards are separate line items, and you can add company-supplied rewards such as PTO and payroll credits.

Every WorkProud Enterprise program also includes a dedicated Client Success Manager and Client Success Engineer.

Alternatives to WorkProud include self-serve recognition tools such as Bonusly, Nectar, Motivosity, and Kudos, and enterprise providers such as O.C. Tanner, Workhuman, Achievers, and Awardco.

The choice usually comes down to three questions: who owns adoption, how rewards are priced, and whether the platform reports on business outcomes or only on activity.

Replace your current recognition platform if participation has stalled, rewards costs are hard to explain, or reporting stops at activity counts. WorkProud is built to fix all three.

WorkProud replaces the four to six disconnected tools most enterprises run with one platform, and a dedicated team manages the move. See “How do we migrate from an outdated recognition program to WorkProud?” below.

Results and measurement

WorkProud clients report higher participation, more recognition activity, and stronger engagement scores. Three named examples:

  • Webster Bank grew recognition activity 265% and reached 78% active participation across 195 branches in year one.
  • Gables Residential went from 140 employees recognized each year to 11,000 recognitions a year.
  • WalkMe (SAP) increased engagement and eNPS 130% from 2022 to 2025, reached 96.2% platform registration, and raised its rewards score 50% during the SAP acquisition with no retention bonuses or equity in place.

Employee recognition reduces turnover when it is frequent, visible, and tracked by team. WorkProud shows which teams are going quiet before people leave, through dashboards that track appreciation activity by department, location, and manager. At WalkMe, groups with low activity showed higher attrition, and HR used that signal to step in early.

The math is simple. Replacing one frontline worker costs $10K to $40K, and broader roles run 50% to 200% of salary. A 5-point drop in attrition across 1,000 employees means 50 fewer exits, or $500K to $2M in avoided frontline replacement costs.

The KPIs that show a recognition program is working are participation rate, recognition frequency, values adoption, manager giving, redemption rate, and fairness between groups. WorkProud reports all six by department, location, and manager.

Two outcome KPIs sit above those: attrition and engagement-survey scores. Connect that data and your WorkProud team reports how recognition activity moves against both in your business reviews.

WorkProud measures impact from what people do, not only what they say in a survey. Every recognition post carries a company value tag, a timestamp, and the team, location, and manager from your HRIS data.

Impact reporting is as strong as the data you connect to it. Link your attrition and engagement-survey data, and your WorkProud team shows how activity moves against them. Without that data, you still get the activity and values measures.

At WalkMe, employees tagged 1.79 values per post, “Work as One WalkMe” scores rose 102%, and Living the Values reached 92% favorability.

Yes. WorkProud tags every recognition post to one or more of your company values, so leaders can see which values people practice and which stay on the wall. Trend reporting shows movement over time, by team and location.

Value tags make every post searchable and reportable by value. Deeper feed customization is available through contracted development hours.

WorkProud provides real-time dashboards and downloadable reports, broken down by department, location, and manager. Standard reports cover:

  • Participant activity
  • Spendable point redemption
  • Awardable point activity
  • Year-over-year performance
  • Overall transactions

Custom reporting is available. Your program team also flags at-risk groups and fairness gaps for you.

Retention and milestones

Milestone recognition supports retention by marking tenure at the moments employees weigh whether to stay. WorkProud runs service anniversaries and birthdays automatically from your HRIS data, at the cadence and value you set.

Employees at 10, 15, and 20 years log in to an experience built for their tenure, with rewards that match the weight of their service.

Yes. WorkProud uses your HRIS data to trigger service anniversaries and birthdays automatically. You set the cadence and value, for example one award each year and a larger one every five years.

Your WorkProud team owns fulfillment accuracy, so HR stops chasing wrong letters and missed anniversaries.

Measure the impact of service awards by comparing attrition for recognized and unrecognized groups at each tenure band. WorkProud reports milestone activity by department, location, and manager. Connect your attrition data and your WorkProud team reviews the two together in your business reviews.

Industries and frontline teams

WorkProud works for healthcare organizations because caregivers and shift workers can post, receive push notifications, and redeem rewards from a phone, with no desktop login. The iOS and Android app carries full feature parity with desktop.

Healthcare clients include Parkland Health and RWJBarnabas Health.

Banks and financial services firms choose WorkProud for branch-level reporting and for security controls that pass compliance review. WorkProud is SOC 2 Type II certified and PCI SAQ A compliant, and shares the full SOC 2 Type II report under NDA.

Webster Bank grew recognition activity 265% and reached 78% active participation across 195 branches in its first year on WorkProud.

Yes. WorkProud’s native iOS and Android app is rated 4.9 on both app stores and carries full feature parity with desktop. Caregivers, drivers, and shift workers post, get push notifications, and redeem rewards from a phone.

Employees download the app free from the App Store or Google Play.

Yes. WorkProud translates posts written in one language for readers in another, so a Spanish-speaking team and an English-speaking team share one feed. At WalkMe, the Tokyo team started hesitant over language barriers and became one of the platform’s most active groups.

WorkProud Enterprise programs include configurable keyword filtering and pre-post flagging. Any employee can flag a post or comment. Flagged content disappears from every feed immediately, and an administrator reviews it, then restores or removes it. Flagging is rare in practice.

Getting started and switching

Most WorkProud Enterprise programs go live 8 to 12 weeks after kickoff. The standard plan runs 12 weeks:

  1. Weeks 1 and 2: kickoff, materials gathering, and preliminary design
  2. Weeks 3 and 4: website and app shell
  3. Weeks 5 to 7: program build
  4. Weeks 8 and 9: data importers, reports, and QA
  5. Weeks 10 and 11: testing, launch prep, and training
  6. Week 12: launch, followed by ongoing training and support

Your timeline depends on how quickly your team returns content and sample data. The free WorkProud Webapp is self-serve and needs no IT.

Migrating to WorkProud follows the same 8 to 12 week plan as a new program, run by a dedicated project manager. You provide a participant file, your brand assets, and your point-to-dollar ratio. WorkProud builds, tests, and launches the program.

Most enterprises replace four to six disconnected tools with the one platform.

On the launch date you approve, WorkProud deletes all test data, pushes your program to production, and imports your final participant file. That import sends the invitation email to your employees.

Employees log in to a home screen that carries your brand. SSO handles login if you use it. The mobile app is live on iOS and Android from day one, content moderation is on, and managers receive a live orientation.

WorkProud drives adoption through people, not technology. Across 450+ programs, the strongest first months share one trait: a senior leader recognizes someone publicly within 48 hours of launch.

Your WorkProud team supplies ready-to-use communications kits, helps you recruit 10 to 20 culture champions, and builds a 12-month plan to keep participation climbing. WalkMe reached 96.2% registration within 18 months of a leadership-backed launch.

Managers use a recognition platform when leaders model it, the budget is theirs to give, and their activity is visible. WorkProud gives managers awardable point budgets, a training module inside the platform, and a live orientation at launch.

Reporting shows which managers rarely give appreciation, so HR can coach by name. Webster Bank’s 265% jump in recognition activity followed leadership modeling.

Employee recognition programs fail when no one owns adoption after launch. The software goes live, a few teams use it, and participation fades.

WorkProud assigns a dedicated Client Services team to every Enterprise program. That team builds the launch plan, trains managers, tracks participation by team, and reviews results with you in regular business reviews.

Yes. WorkProud supports pilots and phased rollouts through the participant file. Upload only your first wave and only those employees get access. Add the next wave when you are ready. Many clients pilot with one location or division, then expand once adoption data justifies it.

Pricing

WorkProud is free for up to 20 people through the WorkProud Webapp, and WorkProud Enterprise is priced per program. For larger scale deployments and custom configuration, pricing can start as low as $12 per user per year + the cost of your budget should you want points.

WorkProud Enterprise is scoped and priced per program, not per seat. Every cost on your quote falls into one of three categories: platform setup and implementation, a monthly service fee based on participant count, and reward fulfillment, billed on redemption or on issuance. For larger scale deployments and custom configuration, we are very competitive and transparent. Just require a conversation to build out the right platform.

Your finance team sees where each dollar goes before you sign.

Yes. The WorkProud Webapp is free for up to 20 people, with complimentary setup. You sign up yourself, with no IT involvement and no integrations. https://workproud.com/free

HRIS integration, the managed service, content moderation, and multi-language support are Enterprise features. When your team outgrows the free tier, you upgrade on the same platform with no migration.

Yes. WorkProud’s peer-to-peer posts, values tags, and social feed work without reward points. Add a rewards budget when you are ready, and the shop opens once your account is funded and configured.

No. WorkProud prices software, services, and rewards as separate line items, so what you pay for a reward is what the employee receives. Some platforms offer software cheaply and recoup margin through catalog markups.

In a December 2025 side-by-side on an identical 11-item catalog, a leading competitor’s program cost $16,496 against $6,196 for WorkProud, a 166% difference.

Rewards and global fulfillment

Employees redeem WorkProud points across a catalog network of 80+ suppliers in 150+ countries and territories.

Standard categories:

  • Retail gift cards, digital and physical
  • Prepaid debit cards
  • Retail merchandise
  • Health and well-being
  • Travel and experiences
  • Charitable giving

You can add custom items: branded merchandise, company-specific gift cards, company events, and items embellished with your logo, names, or dates. The catalog never includes liquor, weapons, or ammunition.

Yes. WorkProud handles reward fulfillment, returns, and exchanges in-house across 150+ countries and territories. Employees see only the items available in their country, with point values shown in local currency.

The platform supports multiple languages and currencies, so one program covers every location.

Yes. WorkProud is catalog-agnostic, so company-supplied rewards such as PTO, payroll credits, and company events sit in the same shop as gift cards and merchandise. You are never locked into a preset reward structure or a single fulfillment vendor.

WorkProud offers two funding models: Bill on Redemption and Bill on Issuance.

  • Bill on Redemption (recommended): you deposit funds into a redemption account, each order draws it down, and low-balance notices go out as the balance falls.
  • Bill on Issuance: you buy points in advance by invoice, monitor the balance in real time, and receive a full refund of unused points if the program ends.

Fund the account before launch. The rewards shop activates within 15 minutes of WorkProud receiving your funds.

Spendable points belong to the employee, who redeems them in the WorkProud shop. Awardable points go to managers and designated givers, who distribute them to others but cannot spend them. Only administrators can withdraw points from an account.

WorkProud handles damaged and missing reward claims directly with the employee, who files a help form. Damaged-item claims are due within 30 days of delivery. Non-receipt claims are due within one month of the order date. Gift cards and prepaid cards are not refundable or exchangeable.

Integrations and data

WorkProud integrates with any HRIS that can expose an API or export data, including Workday, SAP, Oracle, ADP, UKG, and Dayforce. Data moves through an automated SFTP feed, API, or batch file, and keeps groups, managers, and locations current.

WorkProud also connects to your intranet, communications tools, LMS, scheduling, and wellness systems through REST and SOAP APIs.

Yes. WorkProud supports IdP-initiated SAML SSO and works with identity providers such as Okta and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). Other SSO methods are available on request.

Your participant file controls all employee access to WorkProud. If someone is in the file, they have access. If you remove them, access ends. Administrators can also lock or unlock any account.

Every group, manager relationship, department, and location tag flows from that file, so keeping it current keeps the program accurate.

WorkProud builds groups from columns in your participant file: location, department, manager team, or role family. Your WorkProud team confirms the structure with you at setup, and you choose which groups new employees follow by default.

Employees follow or unfollow any group from Search and Follow. When they write a post or announcement, the recipient field includes a Groups option, so one selection reaches a whole team or branch.

Security and privacy

WorkProud is SOC 2 Type II certified, with third-party audits every year, and PCI SAQ A compliant. The platform also meets GDPR, CCPA, and Trans-Atlantic Data Privacy Framework requirements.

WorkProud shares the full SOC 2 Type II report under NDA.

WorkProud protects employee data with encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access, regular vulnerability and virus scans, third-party penetration tests, code review, employee phishing tests, and security training. The platform runs on Amazon cloud infrastructure across multiple availability zones.

Data is hosted in the US, and a tested disaster recovery plan backs the platform.

No. WorkProud uses deterministic rules, not machine learning models, to process employee data.

The WorkProud privacy policy is at whapps.com/privacy-policy. WorkProud is operated by WHAPPS LLC, which also operates as Online Rewards. A document version is available on request.

WorkProud has served clients since 2002 and holds 96% client retention. WHAPPS LLC is privately held and does not publish audited statements. Under a mutual NDA, WorkProud shares income statements, balance sheets, tax filings, and a meeting with the external accountants who have prepared its filings since 2007.

Administration and support

Most WorkProud programs need 10% to 15% of one person’s time. WalkMe’s program owner spends about 15% of her time on WorkProud, and she describes recognition, reporting, incentives, compliance, and global distribution as running on their own.

A daily check takes five minutes: review the notification bell and the flagged-content badge.

WorkProud assigns every Enterprise program a dedicated Client Services team after launch. Your Client Success Manager owns strategy and results. Your Client Success Engineer is your product expert. Administrators reach the team by phone and email.

Employees use a web form or a toll-free number for questions and fulfillment issues. Support runs in English, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM ET.

WorkProud provides up to three online training sessions for administrators and managers, plus a PDF guide for administrators and one for participants. A manager training module lives in the platform, and your team hosts a live orientation at launch. Ongoing training and leadership sessions continue after go-live.

Yes. In WorkProud, anyone can recognize anyone at any time, with no manager approval unless you want it. You set approval thresholds where they make sense. Managers receive awardable point budgets, so you control spend without slowing down appreciation.

Yes. Your WorkProud site and mobile app carry your logo, colors, imagery, and email templates. You can add custom core-value badges and a custom e-card library.

For employees using WorkProud

Each company’s WorkProud program has its own web address, set up by your employer. Use the link in your invitation email, or open WorkProud from your company intranet if your company uses single sign-on. You can also log in through the WorkProud app on iOS or Android.

If you cannot find your program, ask your HR team or program administrator. https://workproud.com/support/

Your WorkProud invitation arrives by email when your administrator uploads the participant file at launch. If your company uses SSO, open WorkProud from your intranet. Then download the app from the App Store or Google Play to get push notifications.

To recognize a colleague in WorkProud, open the app or site and start a post. Type the colleague’s name in the recipient field and select them. Choose the company value, write your message, add points if you have them, and post. Their manager is notified, and others can like and comment.

If you do not see a name in the suggested list, keep typing. Search finds anyone in your program.

To recognize a whole team in WorkProud, choose Groups in the recipient field and select the group. Every member receives the post, so you do not have to select people one at a time.

Gift card rewards appear in WorkProud after your administrator funds the rewards account and WorkProud finishes your program configuration. The shop activates within 15 minutes of receiving funds. Ask your program administrator whether funding is complete.
